Our Baited Shark Dives:

South Coast Diving Co. is not only a recognized PADI 5 Star Dive Centre but also is a Green Fins Dive Centre. As Green fins member we are committed to protecting the marine environments that we depend on- especially the unique ecosystem of Protea Banks, a marine protected Area right on our doorstep.

We follow strict ethical guidelines to ensure minimal disruption to natural shark behaviour. Sharks are never fed or controlled—only respectfully observed in their natural environment. On Protea Banks, our ethical baited shark dives are designed not only to offer unforgettable encounters, but to turn every diver into a voice for shark conservation.

Our approach goes beyond the dive itself. We believe that meaningful, responsible interactions with sharks can change perceptions and inspire protection. Through guided experiences and educational briefings, we provide you with the knowledge needed to understand the challenges sharks face—and why they matter.

Rather than overwhelming you with technical detail, we focus on what’s essential:

• The role sharks play in healthy marine ecosystems
• The real threats they face today
• The species you’re most likely to encounter at Protea Banks

Our Commitment as a Green Fin Dive Centre includes:

1. Strict no touch, no harassment policies for all marine life.
2. Conducting eco-focused dive briefing before every dive.
3. Promoting responsible diving practices amongst our guests and staff.
4. Reducing single use plastics on our boats, in our shop and guesthouse
5. Ensuring responsible boating practices to protect our reefs.

All dives include:

• Weight & cylinder rental
• Guidance from our trained, local team

Extras available include: 

• Soft gear rental (fins, mask, wetsuit)
• Hard gear rental (BCD & regulator)
• Full gear set
• Nitrox

The Lookout Guesthouse:

If needed, we offer optional accommodation at our on-site guesthouse for the duration of your course, making your training experience more convenient, comfortable, and stress-free so you can focus fully on your diving. A peaceful retreat where you can relax, making it the perfect place to be after the high-energy morning dives.
